Eleanor Birt on behalf of the Birt Family said “We were pleasantly surprised and gratified when the Mill River Resort group approached us to purchase Eagles Glenn Golf Course. Don McDougall’s reputation and track record of success gives us great confidence that the future of the Eagles Glenn Golf Course is bright.”
“Our golf business growth is strong and growing and adding the course and team at Eagles Glenn enables us to do more packaging and cross promotion,” said Don McDougall, owner of Mill River Resort. “We’re excited about being able to expand our golf offerings and feature more for both visiting golfers and members.”
McDougall expects that golf tourism will benefit with the acquisition: “With a course in Prince County and now one in Cavendish we’ll be able to extend our marketing reach and encourage the out-of-province golfer to stay longer and play both of our top-notch courses.”
“Don and the Mill River team have done a great job revitalizing the Mill River resort and golf course, bringing visitors and locals to a destination and we look forward to having them as a member of our business community in Cavendish,” said Matthew Jelley, Mayor of Resort Municipality of Stanley Bridge, Hope River, Bayview, Cavendish and North Rustico, and president of Maritime Fun Group, which operates a number of attractions in Cavendish.
According to Geoffrey Irving, Mill River’s President, the new owners have no immediate plans for any major changes at Eagles Glenn: “We’re going to make some minor improvements in the short term. We’ve been lucky to acquire a course with proven and experienced staff. Longer term we’ll be looking at several potential projects to improve and enhance the property for an even better guest experience.”
