Up West Adventures
Now’s your chance to head Up West to explore the North Cape Coastal Region – no crowds, no lines, no worries – so, pack your sense of adventure and discover what’s so fun about western PEI!
GET GOLFING
Want to know a secret? You don’t need to be good at golf to have fun playing! Sure, our 18-hole championship course attracts avid players from all over, but amateur and novice golfers will find Mill River a fun and friendly atmosphere for getting a taste of this sport. Our 3-hole course, practice green and driving range are perfect for getting into the swing of golf at your own pace, one skill at a time!
Saddle Up at Miminegash
If sunsets, the sounds of the sea and the rhythmic plodding of trail horses walking the sandy shore aren’t enough to inspire you to take a horseback ride at Miminegash harbour, then you should probably have your sense of adventure checked. Trail riding along the beach with Jasper Sunrise Wildwoods is the kind of downhome fun you need right now, and an easy breezy 22km away from the resort.
Take to the Trails at North Cape
On an island known for its gentle rolling landscape, this place couldn’t be more different. Feel the full force of nature as you walk the windswept Black Marsh Nature Trail. Hugging the cliff’s edge, the trail meanders through forest, beneath whooshing windmills, and brings you up-close and personal with rare plants. See all the rugged beauty here where the waters of the Northumberland Strait and the Gulf of St. Lawrence come crashing together, 42km from the resort.
Red Sandstone Cliffs and Red Sand Beaches
Beach strolls are, after all, a way of life for Islanders. Dip your toes in the Gulf of Saint Lawrence as you explore the red sand shore of Jacques Cartier Provincial Park beach just 22km from the resort. Or, embrace the space and epic view from atop the red sand cliffs for which the North Cape Coastal Drive is famous.
Paddle Away the Day
If paddle boarding, kayaking or canoeing is your preferred transportation – pack it along for the adventure! At the end of the resort road you’ll find our new dock, just perfect for launching your afternoon adventure down the wide and tranquil Mill River. Follow the riverbank and explore coves and inlets as you wave to golfers through the trees, taking in the peaceful views of western PEI cottage country and the pristine wilderness along the river’s edge.
Bask with Beach Goats
You read that right – it says, Beach Goats. A herd of friendly Nigerian dwarf goats is well-known in these parts. We all know goats are expert climbers, but these goats have a flair for fashion and a true passion for beach days – they are Islanders, after all! Bask with them at their favourite beach in St. Chrysostome. This fun and fuzzy outing is 40km away from the resort, and so worth it.
Off the Beaton Track Craft Brew
Have you ever rambled down a country road, far away from everything else and thought, “this would be a great place for a craft brewery”? A visit to Moth Lane Brewing is a must. Don’t let the old country road fool you, this craft brewery is normally a happening spot with a hearty snack menu and long list of brews just 27km from the resort. Ramble down the red dirt road to grab a growler to go for now, and plan to come back and sample the full tap list.
